No matter how talented you are, it takes a lot of guts and an extra dose of craziness to attempt what you are about to see in the video clip after the break, because it’s one thing going around a Ford Pinto in circles and another when the car in question is a Bugatti Veyron priced close to $2 million.
The man behind this feat (if you can call it that) is 25-year-old pro drifter Derek "Buttsy" Butler from Ireland. Buttsy performed the…gutsy drift stunt around the exotic 1,001-horsepower supercar in a heavily modified Toyota Supra during this year’s Gumball 3000.

Pierre Henri Raphanel, Bugatti’s official test driver did though, to achieve a new landspeed record for a production car in front of Guinness Book of Records officials.

 He and the car managed an average speed of 431km/h.

The new Super Sport is only available in two-tone black and orange and is also known as the World Record Edition, appropriately. Power from the 8.0-litre W16 engine has been increased from 1001hp (746kW) to 1200hp (895kW). Torque has also been boosted somewhat, from 1250Nm to 1500Nm. Exclusive

VIDEO: Bijan Pakzad’s Ostensibly Opulent Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport

On April 16, Iranian born fashion designer Bijan Pakzad passed away at a hospital in Los Angeles after a stroke. The man who became famous for dressing some of the most influential and well-known people in the world including President Barack Obama, Frank Sinatra and Carry Grant, also had a passion for cars. The Los Angeles-based designer not only amassed a huge collection of luxurious limos and supercars which he drove on a regular basis, but he also collaborated with some of the most renowned automakers.
Following a collaboration with Rolls Royce for the development of a limited edition version, Bijan also joined forces with Bugatti helping to create a bespoke series based on the 1,001HP Veyron, the latest being a Grand Sport. Bijan’s version of the open-top Bugatti hypercar was finished only six weeks ago and features a special two-tone theme and numerous other appointments. The Bugatti Veyron Nocturne strikes with an extraordinary partition of surfaces never used so far, giving the car a new dimension of lateral length. Bugatti is experimenting with galvanized side windows continuing the line of the polished aluminium upper body parts to the rear of the car and contrast vividly with the uni black of the side- and door-panels and the roof. The Bugatti Veyron Nocturne Special Edition will be available for delivery in the first quarter of 2010 with the price of 1.65 Mio Euro.

The “Soleil de Nuit” – Sun of the Night – is another stunning example of how a modern interpretation of Bugatti’s core values “Art, Forme, Technique”: A very unusual colour/material split characterizes the “Soleil de Nuit”, the second Middle East one-off model created for the Dubai Motor Show.

The horizontal split in the lower part of the car – a synthesis of polished Aluminium, painted Black Blue Metallic enriched by mirror shine meshes – softens the lines of this Grand Sport and gives the body a new touch of sportiness. Blue Metallic in the upper body parts and also in the inner side of the (“Sang Noir”) rims, the outer side of which are in diamond cut, underline the exquisite appearance of this dramatic looking car. A strong burnt orange interior crowns the attractiveness of this impressive “Soleil de Nuit”. The Bugatti Grand Sport Soleil de Nuit, the Veyron and Grand Sport one-off models price is 1.55 Mio Euro and will be available for delivery in the first quarter of 2010.

2011 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport is a consequent of the further development of the classic exclusive 1,001-hp Bugatti Veyron 16.4, launched in 2005. This model offers a stunning set of specifications, such as the twin clutch gearbox with seven speeds, the extraordinarily precise driving performance in bends and excellent stability when braking and accelerating. The result is a car with a uniquely high performance of1,200-hp (882 kW) offering experienced drivers a whole new dimension of excitement, with a maximum torque of 1,500 Newton metres and a limited top speed of 415 km/h.

The Super Sport will begin production this autumn at Molsheim along with the Veyron and the Grand Sport. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport will appear for the first time in public in California at the Pebble Beach Concours weekend in mid-August.
