Aussie Supercar Buyers Paying More than Anyone

In today’s economy, AU$1.0 will get you US$1.06, but it seems Australia’s overseas automakers have yet to acknowledge this. A Lamborghini Aventador, for example, costs a hefty AU$754,600 – or more than twice the price you would pay for one in the U.S. of A. And its 51% pricier than a V12 powered Lamborghini Diablo was ten years ago. This was tolerable when the Aussie dollar was worth 64 U.S. cents a few years ago, but those days are over.
While TV’s, computers and mobile phones have all become more affordable, supercars have not. It’s so bad that one prospective Lamborghini buyer, businessman Ra Hazouri, has flat out refused to pay.

Investigators Uncover Multi-Million Pound Tax Scam in India; European Exotics, Foreign Diplomats and Bollywood Actors Involved

In what sounds more like the plot of a The Fast and the Furious movie than real life, investigators at India’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence office (a.k.a. India’s IRS) have uncovered a massive exotic car smuggling operation in the nation’s capital of New Dehli. It all has to do with India’s notorious 100% import tax on new luxury vehicles.
It began with one New Dehli luxury car dealer, Sumit Walia, importing brand new luxury cars on forged invoices. These invoices listed the cars as second-hand, which saved Walia – and his customers – some 40% on import tax. Some of the cars – which included Porsches, Bentleys and Aston Martins – were found to have been stolen from the streets of Britain, France, Singapore and Japan.

The Maserati Quattroporte Sports Saloon

For those Maserati Quattroporte owners seeking a bit more flair from the Italian sports sedan, German tuning house MR Car Design has prepared a mild performance package. Novitec Rosso Supercharges Alfa Romeo 8C Spider to 600-horsepower

It may not be the best sports car Italy has to offer us right now, but Alfa Romeo’s 8C Spider is certainly a prime candidate for being one of the most beautiful out there. That said, even Novitec Rosso is smart enough to know that you don’t mess with a good thing with the German tuner focusing its attention on improving the Alfa’s mechanical hardware.
The highlight of Novitec Rosso’s performance package is hidden under the 8C Spider’s hood with the adoption of a modified version of the supercharger system used on the firm’s Maserati GT tune. A new water-to-air intercooler with a dedicated radiator, custom injectors, a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system and an ECU optimization round off the changes to the 4.7-liter V8 engine.

Maserati granturismo/Maserati mc corse granturismo modern car which is issued by a Maserati with a more luxurious design

Maserati GranTurismo coupe and convertible are undoubtedly some of the most beautiful GT cars on the road. This new car, looking to the casual observer, like the GranTurismo tin top, too. But look a little closer and you’ll start to know exactly what this car really is.
Our spy photographers are not sure what the car is, nor are we – although judging by the large rear spoiler and more centrally mounted dual exhausts, this could be a mule for a high performance version of the GranTurismo more. The standard car has quad exhaust pipes
more fitted to the corners of the rear facade, rear diffuser and a slightly different sub-carts too.
An even more performance GranTurismo does not look very well at first, like the GranTurismo S has already fulfilled that role. The GranTurismo MC S Line Sport car limited edition for the Middle East was the ante a bit, though. But the real tell-tale signs from the GranTurismo MC Corse GT4 race car that has the same configuration and arrangement of exhaust spoiler as the spied car, while the road version here does not have the extreme front and rear splitter / diffuser combination found on the race car. This might suggest a street-legal version of the pilot, not unlike the BMW M3 GTS. We’re not sure how that would sit down with the bosses at Ferrari Fiat franchise partner, but it is certainly a welcome idea for us.

The decklid spoiler raised spied the model is unusually subtle for a race car, however, that we may be seeing just a facelift of the car undisguised. Unveiled in 2007, the GranTurismo is due for a facelift light, but would expect these minor exterior alterations to be all that is coming – mechanics, the car must remain the same with the current 450-hp, 4.7-liter V-8 continues to power of the car rear wheels through an automatic transmission.

Maserati had its flagship GranTurismo S to even higher levels of performance with the creation of the GranTurismo MC Concept.
Designed just like a track day special, it boasts significant changes in style are designed to improve aerodynamic efficiency, without spoiling the elegant lines of the original model.
The Maserati Corse Concept features two large air intakes designed to improve the flow of air from the engine and brakes, combination air input / output integrated into the bonnet and guard pumped to accommodate the biggest clue.
The side profile underwent extensive aerodynamic testing and incorporates new side air vents connected to the side skirts similar to the Nissan GT-R to channel hot air from the engine compartment around the car.
The rear exit dual exhaust has integrated into the rear diffuser and spoiler to a much steeper angle to complement the effects of aerodynamic splitter added new front.
Maserati Racing Department engineers almost completely removed all traces of the original interior to save weight and added an FIA approved roll cage, Sparco racing wheel, racing seats and carbon panel and control console.
Corse Concept runs a highly tuned version of the 4.7-liter V8 engine of the GranTurismo S, which now develops 510 Nm and 330.9kW to 4,750 rpm.
This was achieved by installing a high performance system air consumption combined with an exhaust system equipped with a catalytic converter type of race.
The end result is a total weight of less than 1,400 kg and a power to weight ration of less than 4.2 kg / kW.
